The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute has been proud to call Jupiter’s Abacoa community home since 2004. The scientists of The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute are leaders in their fields, working with advanced drug discovery tools and expertise to discovery new ways of addressing society’s many unmet medical needs. Research areas include Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, ALS, muscular dystrophy, autoimmune disease, infectious diseases and more. Founded by Scripps Research, the institute joined the University of Florida, the state’s flagship research university, in 2022.
Wertheim UF Scripps scientists collaborate with scientists around the world and work closely with their University of Florida and UF Health colleagues, to advance science, science education and medicine, all for the benefit of humanity. The institute’s highly acclaimed graduate program educates more than 75 doctoral students who pursue PhDs in areas such as neuroscience, biochemistry and microbiology. Thanks to generous donors including the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation and the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, the institute also offers exceptional STEM educational programming and internship opportunities for local students. The institute offers outstanding undergraduate internship opportunities, too.
